Product Introduction

XL Type Resilient coupling with spider

Product Introduction:The XL Type Resilient coupling with spider consists of two identical half-couplings with claws and an elastic element. It achieves the connection of the two half-couplings by placing the star-shaped elastic element between the claws of the two half-couplings.

Main Materials:Shaft sleeve: 45# steel; Elastic element: Polyurethane

Application Scenarios:Pumps, fans, compressors, textile machinery, metallurgical, mining, and heavy machinery equipment, etc.

Note:The standard main material is 45# steel. If other materials, such as stainless steel, are required, please communicate with the sales staff when placing the order. If there are special technical processing requirements, technical parameters need to be confirmed.

Key Features & Benefits

High vibration damping – The polyurethane spider effectively absorbs shock loads and reduces noise during operation.

Fail-safe design – Even if the elastic spider wears out, the coupling continues to transmit torque temporarily, preventing sudden machine stops.

Electrical insulation – The spider provides natural electrical isolation between the two metal hubs, protecting sensitive components like bearings.

Easy maintenance – The spider can be replaced without disassembling the connected equipment, minimizing downtime.

Technical Parameters

Torque range – Available for nominal torque from 10 Nm up to 25,000 Nm (depending on size).

Operating temperature – Standard polyurethane spider: -30°C to +100°C; special high-temperature material available up to +120°C.

Allowable misalignment – Angular: ≤ 1°, Parallel: ≤ 0.2 mm, Axial: ≤ 2 mm (values vary with size).

Hardness of spider – Available in four hardness grades: 92 Shore A (soft, high damping), 95 Shore A (standard), 98 Shore A (hard, high torque), and 64 Shore D (extra hard).

Selection Guidance

For high starting torque or reversing loads, choose a harder spider (98 Shore A or 64 Shore D).

For applications requiring high damping (e.g., vibrating screens), select 92 Shore A.

Ensure the shaft insertion depth matches the hub length – insufficient depth reduces holding torque.

Installation & Maintenance Tips

Before assembly, clean any anti-rust oil from the shaft and bore.

Leave a small axial gap (approx. 1–2 mm) between the shaft end and the coupling bottom to allow thermal expansion.

Check spider wear every 3–6 months. Replace immediately if cracks or excessive deformation appear.

Customization Options

Bore sizes – Non-standard bores (metric or inch) can be machined on request.

Keyways – Add "K" after bore size for keyway (e.g., XL-35x50-12Kx14).

Material upgrade – Hubs available in stainless steel (304/316), aluminum alloy, or cast iron.

Surface treatment – Black oxide, zinc plating, or nickel plating for corrosion resistance.

FAQS:

1. Rigid vs. flexible coupling?
Rigid needs perfect alignment; flexible compensates for misalignment (angular, parallel, axial).

2. How much misalignment allowed?
See catalog values. For combined misalignments, reduce each to half of rated value.

3. Set screw vs. clamping type?
Set screw is low cost but may mar shaft. Clamping type grips without damage, easy to remove.

4. Custom bore or keyway?
Yes. Add "K" after bore size. Example: GSY-39x34.5-8Kx9K = both bores keyway.

5. Tightening torque?
Use recommended torque from catalog. Too low = slip, too high = damage.

6. Shaft insertion length?
Insert full hub length. Too short = slip, too long = internal interference.

7. Aluminum in corrosive environment?
Standard for general use. For harsh conditions, use stainless steel series or contact us.
