From the setting mode, there are two kinds of regulators: ordinary type and voltage setting type. The basic composition of common type and voltage setting regulator is the same, the difference is only in parameter setting circuit. In the ordinary regulator, the parameter setting can only be carried out locally, and the setting parameters can be changed by adjusting the resistance value of potentiometer or switching resistance or capacitance with band switch; in the voltage setting regulator, the setting parameters p, Ti and TD are controlled by external voltage, so remote setting, third parameter setting and self-tuning can be achieved. The following is about the analysis and discussion of ordinary PID regulator.

The composition of PID regulator can be represented by the block diagram shown in Fig. 4-36. The regulator is mainly composed of three parts: Hansen circuit, operation circuit and output circuit. But in some regulators, the output circuit and the operation circuit are an inseparable whole. In addition, it may be attached with indication circuit, manual operation circuit and limiting circuit. There are two kinds of indication circuits: deviation indication, full scale indication of given value and input value.
