What is the resistance performance test of heavy-duty casters?

Stainless steel PU casters

The extensive use of heavy-duty casters not only promotes social progress, but also has a great impact on the development of our lives; for example, casters in our furniture, casters in chairs, and some machinery in industry are now equipped with casters for easy movement. It is conceivable how much convenience the use of casters has brought to us. In the casters we see in our lives, it is not that they can be used after they are produced. They have also undergone a series of tests before they can be boxed, packaged, and used. Of course, the test requirements for casters of different materials are also different. Follow the caster manufacturer to see what methods it uses to test the casters and then become qualified casters.

Heavy-duty caster resistance performance test: When testing this performance, the caster should be kept dry and clean, and the caster should be placed on a metal plate insulated from the ground, keeping the wheel edge in contact with the metal plate, and loading 5% to 10% of its nominal load on the caster. Use an insulation resistance tester to measure the resistance between the caster and the metal plate. For conductive casters, the resistance value is not greater than 104 ohms, and the resistance of the caster should be between 105 ohms and 107 ohms.

Impact test: Any item may produce collision vibration due to transportation, use, storage, etc., which may make the product unable to be used normally for a period of time. Furniture is often easily hit due to its large size and weight. The casters at the bottom that determine whether the furniture is placed stably should have good impact resistance.

Static load test: Casters should always run stably on the ground, but that is almost a purely theoretical state. When on uneven surfaces, or when crossing thresholds, tracks and pits, casters will leave the ground for a short time, so when they are suddenly overloaded or 3 of the 4 casters touch the ground, they bear the load of the entire furniture.

Reciprocating wear test: The reciprocating wear test of casters simulates the actual rolling of casters in daily use. It is divided into obstacle test and no obstacle test. During the test, no casters or other parts are allowed to detach. After the test, each caster should be able to run its normal function. After the test, the rolling, pivoting or braking functions of the casters should not be damaged.

Rolling resistance and rotational resistance measurement: When the caster moves or controls its direction of travel, the force must be transmitted to the caster through the object and overcome the resistance. The magnitude of the resistance depends on: load, wheel diameter, wheel material, wheel surface shape, site conditions where the caster rotates, etc.
