Through experiments, caster manufacturers have found that air and O2 are the reasons why casters are prone to rust. Water storage alone will not cause casters to rust. Only when oxygen in the air dissolves in water, oxygen will react chemically with casters in a water environment to form a substance called air-oxidized casters, which is caster rust. Caster rust is a reddish-brown substance. It is not as hard as casters and is easy to fall off. After a caster is completely rusted, its volume can be increased by 8 times. If the caster rust is not removed, this honeycomb caster rust is particularly easy to absorb water, and the caster will rust faster.
Knowing the secret of caster rust, we can effectively prevent the occurrence of caster rust. Casters in humid areas are more likely to rust than those in dry areas because casters in humid areas are more likely to come into contact with water than those in dry areas. Painted casters are less likely to rust because the paint has the function of blocking air and water. If you want to reduce the rust of casters, you can consider the test results and randomly cut off one of the rusting conditions. If you paint it, the contact between the caster and the air will be cut off. If you wipe some caster products such as fruit knives after use and put them in a dry area, you can cut off the contact between the caster and water, thereby preventing the caster products from rusting.
