We got a call last month from a plant manager at an auto parts warehouse. Again. His team was moving loaded steel racks – maybe 1.5 tons total – on 6-inch so-called "heavy-duty" fixed casters from his usual supplier. The problem? Every few months, a wheel would lock up. Or the weld on the top plate would crack. Total headache. Downtime, safety risks, constant replacement orders.
He sent us one of his failed units. The plate was bent (thin metal). The ball race felt gritty (half-empty, poor sealing). The PU tread? Starting to separate from the core (cheap bonding).

So, here's what we did at Ningbo Shangxin with our new 6-inch fixed caster. We didn't just tweak an old design. We overbuilt it, targeting those exact failures.
The Details (for the engineers):
Total height: 188mm. Plate: 116x100x6mm thick carbon steel. And we double-weld that Q235 steel plate – both sides. Overkill? Maybe. But we haven't seen one bend yet.
Dynamic load: 450kg/ea. This comes from a fully packed, double ball race. No skimping on balls. Rolls smooth under load.
The wheel… this matters. The PU is poured into a deep-groove PP core. It's not a sleeve; it's fused in. In the real world, that means the tread doesn't strip off when the cart takes a corner under load.
Back to that warehouse manager. We sent him four samples. "Test these heavy duty fixed caster wheels on your worst aisle," we said. Six months later, his feedback was simple: "The ones you sent are still on. We've replaced others twice. Send me a quote for 80 pieces."
For him, the win wasn't just the specs. It was:
No more bent plates from uneven floors.
No more seized bearings filled with dust.
No more tread separation after hitting dock edges.
